An event every week that begins at 6:00pm on Sunday, repeating until March 18, 2018
Enjoy Shakespeare as it is meant to be experienced outside under the stars on our Baker Stage. Performances of this free, abridged version of Shakespeare’s beloved classic The Taming of the Shrew are February 17 to March 18, 2018 – the first production of its kind in The Naples Players 64 year history. Comprised of an all-female cast, the production provides a unique and exciting twist on Shakespeare, which was traditionally performed with only male performers. Adding to the themes of disguises and facades, the production will integrate traditional masques from the Italian Commedia Dell’arte with modern slapstick humor. Don’t forget to bring your lawn chair and experience great theater under the stars on 5th Avenue South Naples.
Working off of a highly-renowned model created by the Colorado Shakespeare Festival (CSF) and the University of Colorado’s Institute of Behavioral Science, the Naples Players is the first entity in the country to try and apply the model in a new state. The Naples Players will consult with CSF, local schools, counselors, and leaders to identify local trends and resources that will be addressed during the workshops. Free and open to the public, performances will be held every weekend on Baker Stage. Don’t forget to bring your own chair! February 17 to March 18, 2018 – Saturdays 2pm; Sundays 6pm (No performance on St. Patricks day, March 17)
