This is the first installment of James Duggan's 4 part acting class series - Acting Connected. This series is an exercise-driven approach to improving acting skills and performance readiness. The curriculum is organized into key categories: body awareness, concentration and focus, improvisation, mime, monologues. Connecting each lesson to the acting profession, designed to promote growth and motivate actors to excel.
This introductory acting course develops the foundational tools of physical presence, mental focus, and vocal expressiveness through a series of structured exercises and ensemble activities. Students will build awareness of body alignment and sensory responsiveness, hone observational and memorization techniques, and strengthen breath control and vocal projection. Emphasis is placed on connecting mind, body, and voice to unlock authenticity and spontaneity in performance. . Students should come prepared with a memorized monologue.
