Donor Advised Funds (DAFs)
Donor-advised funds, or DAFs, are accounts where donors can contribute funds, immediately get a tax deduction, and “advise” on where to donate. Donors can contribute non-cash assets, like appreciated securities or crypto, to DAFs, and the funds grow over time. Donating appreciated assets lets the donor avoid paying capital gains taxes.
Private foundations have to distribute at least 5% of their assets annually for charitable purposes, but DAFs don’t have payout requirements. Donors also don’t report their gifts to individual organizations on their taxes, and instead report that they gave to the DAF.
To donate using a Donor Advised Fund (DAF), you first need to have a DAF account established with a sponsoring organization like Fidelity Charitable or Schwab Charitable. Then, choosing The Naples Players is quick and easy!
IRA Charitable Rollovers
If you’re 70½ or older, you can make a tax-free contribution to The Naples Players straight from your IRA. This simple giving option, called a Qualified Charitable Distribution, can also count toward your required minimum distribution.
Corporate Matching
Many organizations offer matching incentives for charitable giving to current employees and retirees, and you could double (or even triple) your support of The Naples Players. All matching gifts are credited to the donor, which means you receive the recognition and benefits associated with the matched level of giving. Check with your employer today about the possibility.
