Become a volunteer at TNP

Volunteers play a key role in making our productions possible. We offer more than 30 volunteer positions throughout the year, and no prior experience is required—just an interest in being involved. In 2025, more than 800 volunteers will have contributed over 80,000 hours, supporting every area of the organization. We value your time, provide clear training, and make sure you know how your work contributes to each production.

How Volunteering at TNP Works

Volunteering at The Naples Players is open to anyone who wants to get involved. We offer more than 30 roles across productions, events, education, and daily operations. Volunteers sign up for areas that match their interests, complete a brief orientation or training, and then choose shifts or production assignments based on availability. Most positions require reliability, communication with staff, and a willingness to learn. No theatre experience is needed for most roles.

General Requirements

  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Consistent communication with the supervising staff member.
  • Reliability for scheduled shifts or rehearsals.
  • Respect for TNP’s policies, audiences, staff, and fellow volunteers.
  • A positive, professional attitude while representing TNP.
  • Background checks are required for all roles, as we regularly work with youth or sensitive populations.
  • For production roles: ability to attend required rehearsals or show calls.
  • For front-of-house roles: comfort interacting with the public.
  • Willingness to learn new skills — including tool use, painting, sewing, basic carpentry, lighting and sound operation, prop building, welding, and other backstage trades. Training is provided for all skill levels.

Volunteer Training

No experience is necessary to volunteer at TNP. All volunteers complete a short orientation & tour covering safety, expectations, and how to sign up for shifts. After that, each department provides simple, role-specific training so volunteers know exactly what to do. Production roles receive hands-on instruction before tech rehearsals, and front-of-house roles get walk-throughs before their first shift. Training is direct, practical, and focused on making sure every volunteer can do the job safely and reliably.
