TNP Full Time Academy Auditions

Welcome to The Naples Players Academy of Dramatic Arts!

Please fill out your application for the Full Time Academy before signing up to audition:  TNPA Application.

DATES:

Thursday, 5 June and Friday, 6 June from 1:00p-5:00p. You only need to attend one of the audition days.  Please pick an audition day below. Anticipate being present for the full 1:00p-5:00p time frame.  Breaks will be built into the audition schedule.

Acceptance letters will be delivered via email on Monday, 16 June.

LOCATION:

Auditions will still be held at The Naples Players 701 5th Avenue South, Naples FL 34102.  Check-In will be at the Education Entrance (4th Avenue entrance, right off of the valet turn-around).

THE AUDITION:

The audition will consist of dance, singing, and an interview.

The dance combination is for skill placement into the movement classes.  The dance combination will feature a blend of jazz, modern, and ballet.  You do not have to be proficient in any style of dance.  This is an assessment of you/your student’s current level.

The singing audition requires 32 bars of music (about a minute’s worth) of a show tune.  Sheet music is preferable, but a non-vocal backing track is acceptable.  You may be asked to do some additional vocalization with the Head of Music for best placement.

The interview will be a sit down with the Academic Education team to learn more about you/your student.  Students will interview separately from the parent/guardian first, then the parent/guardian will join for additional Q&A.

SCHEDULE:

• 12:00p-12:55p CHECK IN
  • Audition Check In beings. All students are called at this time.  Please arrive early so you have time to warm up and change.
  • Students will check in with the Education/Audition Assistants at the Education Entrance (4th Avenue entrance, right off of the valet turn-around).
  • Each student will have a headshot taken during check in.
  • Parents are welcome to wait in the Main Lobby where Annie’s Cafe will be open for purchase of refreshments after students have completed check in.  TNPA Faculty and Staff will be available for questions throughout the day.
• 1:00p-2:00p DANCE AUDITION
  • TNP will not be providing dance shoes for the Dance Call.
    • Jazz or tennis shoes are needed for the dance.  No bare feet, socks, sandals, crocs, etc will be allowed.
  • Please wear movement clothing.
  • All students are called for the Dance Audition.
  • The dance will be taught for the entire group.  After 45 minutes, the dance assessment will begin with students performing in groups of 2 for the Head of Dance, Head of Musical Theater, and additional support Faculty.
• 2:00p-2:30p BREAK
  • After the dance audition, students will have time to cool down and change for the singing and interview portion of the day.
  • Students may not leave campus, but are allowed to visit their parents in the Lobby.
• 2:30p-5:00p SINGING AUDITIONS & INTERVIEWS
  • Based on the number of students auditioning per day, students will be assigned a singing time slot and an interview time slot.
  • Please dress appropriately for the singing audition and interview.
  • The Singing Audition will be 5-10 minutes.
  • The Interview portion will be 5-10 minutes.
