Readers Theater Auditions: Fall Line Up

This audition is for the November 17th and the January 26th performances.

For this audition, please be prepared to cold read the audition sides found at the bottom of the page.  Please plan to be there for 1.5-2 hours.  The audition process is time consuming and we will do our best to stay on schedule.

Readers Theater will feature a collection of short one acts, which will be presented in succession on November 24th.  As more information becomes available, this page will be updated.

Auditions for the shows will be Saturday, 5 October starting at 12p.  Please arrive earlier in the day and contact Cole if you cannot arrive until after 3p.  Auditions are free and walk-ins are always welcome!  There are no callbacks for any of the shows.  The Casting Email for the show will be sent starting on the following Wednesday.

DESCRIPTIONS:

Fall Line Up

FAMILY TIES (Sunday, 17 November)
After the Intervention (2 men) – Wayne, a world class alcoholic having just endured an intervention on his behalf, is visited by his comically indifferent son-in-law who has reluctantly been assigned post intervention precaution duty.
Amalia & Bobblehead (1 woman & 1 man) – Sigmund Frued’s mother calls him to confirm dinner plans – but Sigmund is more interested in exploring his mother’s subconscious.
Backstage Drama (3 women & 1 man) – At the opening night of a prep school musical, a retired broadway star “helps” her granddaughter prepare for her theatrical debut.
Cancelled (2 men) – Days before adopting a baby from Africa, husbands Dominic and Geoffery learn he has died of a fever. Now they find themselves at odds about what to do next.
In a Newark Minute (4 women & 2 men) – At an airport ticket counter, a customer, Mr. Conklin, agrees to watch another passenger’s baggage. While he’s doing so, he is distracted by a young couple discussing their sex life, with unexpected consequences.

NEW PLAY FESTIVAL (Sunday, 26 January)
A Blast From the Past (1 woman & 1 man) – It’s a blast from the past when Rita discovers that the grumpy old man in the park is actually her former flame, Joe, from many moons ago. As memories surface and secrets are revealed, can these two possibly rekindle what they once had?
After the Family Feud (3 women, 1 man, 1 any) – After filming an episode of Family Feud, the Coleman family learns that the feud has only just begun.
Deepfake (1 woman, 1 man, 1 any) – Journalist Emily is assigned to try out an AI humanoid robot boyfriend. When she opens up to him, he reveals his true colors.
Sides for the Old Guys (3 men) – Three older actors are reunited at a commercial audition where their desperation to book a job threatens their long-standing relationships.
Undiscovered Country (1 woman, 1 man) – They’re an unlikely pair, but Elizabeth and Teddy have been happily married for decades. After Teddy’s passing, Elizabeth struggles to find a way to go on without. him, but maybe she doesn’t have to.

Rehearsal & Performance Schedule: Rehearsals are set between Director and Casts and will have 3-4 rehearsals for each performance.  Performances are Sunday 17, November @ 7:30p and Sunday, 26 January @ 7:30p.
