Long-time volunteer and friend of The Naples Players, Roger (Roge) Clark has joined our TNP Legacy Circle.  Roge will be remembered as a dedicated, hard-working, and passionate theatre lover who donated hundreds of hours working behind the scenes at TNP.  From creating props to building sets, Roge was never one to shy away from getting his hands dirty and breaking a sweat to help create the magic of live theatre.  While we are sad to report his passing on December 30, 2020 – Roge’s legacy will live on through his gift to The Naples Players, we are honored to welcome him to the TNP Legacy Circle.  Please see below for a full obituary.

Born in Waterbury, Connecticut, August 22, 1944, he later moved to New Jersey and was a 1963 graduate of Mt. Lakes, New Jersey High School. Hamline, University, St.Paul, Minnesota awarded him a Bachelor of Science degree. He served in the U.S.Army, working at the Pentagon. Upon leaving the Army he briefly taught in the Parsippany, NJ Public Schools and then worked for New York Life Insurance Company for 30 years as a technical advisor. Upon his retirement in 2006, he moved to Naples to be near his family.

A quiet man, Roge was an enthusiastic volunteer-he would do whatever you asked of him. When he was volunteering, it was with all of his heart and passion. He especially loved woodworking and seeking garage sale treasures on Saturday mornings with his sister, Muffy.

Roge always loved the theater, starting with acting and building sets as well as serving on the board for the Barn Theater, Montville, New Jersey. Upon retiring to Naples, he joined The Naples Players. Roge put in hundreds of volunteer hours working in the Scene shop, using his carpentry skills to build theater props. As a docent in the Discovery Center at The Conservancy of Southwest Florida, they benefited from his teaching skills. He was awarded Volunteer of the Month. Naples Art, a local art organization, benefited from his many hours working special events.

Roger was predeceased by his parents, Phyllis and Bob Clark, of Naples. He leaves his sister, Muffy Clark Gill and husband Warren; sister Priscilla Clark Drab and husband, Harry Drab of Sanford, Florida, nephew Scott Drab and wife Christine; niece Lindsay Weber and husband, Nick; grandnieces and nephews: Kate, Jackson. Mathew, Luke, and Emma as well as his beloved cat of 18 years, Rosie. A celebration of his life will be announced at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Naples Players.
